LIC employees protest across state, demand wage revision | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 17: Massive demonstrations were held today by employees in the offices of LIC of India across the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir to demand early settlement of wage revision of employees and to demand one more pension for employees. It was a joint programme held by all classes of employees as per joint call of unions at all India level. The programme at Jammu was held outside D O Cell Jammu and led by comrade Pawan Gupta Divisional Secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division, comrade Narinder Sharma Divisional Secretary and Ravi Ji Pandita Joint Secretary of LIC Class-1 Federation, comrade Ramesh Kumar of NOINO and Rakesh Mangotra Divisional Secretary NFIFWI of Class-2. The wage revision of LIC employees has been due since August 2012 and it has been nearly three years now that the management has not been responding to their demand. The leaders said that the offer of 12.5% from management nowhere meets the aspirations of the employees and is not acceptable. In insurance sector all over the world the wages of employees are mainly based on the Total Premium Income and the normal bench mark is nearly 5% of the total premium income. And when we talk of LIC the excepted figure of TPI for the year 2014-15 is Rs 2.5 lakh crores adding that the per employee productivity in respect of Premium Income and also in respect of number of policies has increased to a big extent in the recent years. Further programme of LIC employees struggle was also announced which include lunch hour demonstration on June 24, badge wearing on July 1, lunch hour demonstration on July 7 and a day long strike on July 8. |
