PAF starts signature campaign in support of early completion of Sinthan-Kishtwar road | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, June 17: Public Awareness Front (PAF) Kishtwar today started a signature campaign at Kishtwar in support of long pending demand of construction of Sangpora-Viloo tunnel connecting Kishtwar District of Jammu province with Anatnag District of Kashmir province, beside for providing better road connectivity to twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar. PAF President Shakir Hussain Siddiqui along with dozens of his supporters started its signature campaign from Dak Banglow chowk Kishtwar wherein more than 500 people signed the signature register on its first day. Siddiqui underlined that the road needs immediate restoration in order to overcome the hardships faced by the people of Chenab Valley. He said that the construction work on the roads should be expedited, so that it could be completed as early as possible. While talking to "Early Times" President PAF Shakir Siddiqui said that the signature campaign will continue in coming days as well, added that the front will sit at various location of Kishtwar town at its adjoining prominent venues in and around Kishtwar and also said that PAF plans to reach out to the people in Anantnag District so that pressure could be put on the government for putting the Sangpora-Viloo tunnel project on fast track. Highlighting poor condition of roads including Kishtwar-Batote National Highway, Siddiqui said that people of Chenab valley has equal right for good road connectivity and added that government should draw a comprehensive plan for providing better road connectivity. "Construction of Sangpora-Viloo Tunnel will not only provide alternative road connectivity to Amarnath Yatra, but will also boost Tourism and economy of Kishtwar District, he said and demanded immediate black topping of Kishtwar-Batote, Kishtwar-Padder and Kishtwar Sinthan road. PAF President said that Kishtwar District has vast tourism potential which not only needs to be explored, but also need to bring on national and international tourism map and reiterated the demand of creation of separate Tourism Development for Nagsini/Padder and Dachhan/Marwah/Warwan. He also lamented that school education and higher education is also in shambles. Meantime he urged upon administration to provide all facilities to the people during holy month of Ramazan and demanded curbing of black-marketing. Highlighting irregularities in CA&PD, Department, Siddiqui also alleged that many people in Kishtwar were denied of three month free ration out of six month announced by the previous government and demanded fixing of responsibility on guilty officials involved in embezzlement of ration. |
