Overloaded pilgrims' buses keep plying, traffic police asleep
6/18/2015 12:10:54 AM
Early Times Report
Katra, June 17: The overloading and without permit ferrying of pilgrims to various tourist destinations from Katra have become the order of the day - and that too under the very nose of the administration. As per the present status of the mini buses and the Tata -407 vehicles going places from Katra overloading the passengers are not taken the cognizance of. The example of one such vehicle moving from Katra to Patnitop has to clear nearly 3 to 4 traffic police nakas , but the business of overloading is going on unabated, obviously after greasing the palms of the traffic police personnel. Though such practice is at galore, Jammu and Kashmir police is acting spontaneously to nab the culprits , but for traffic police personnel , they always seem busy in minting money , uncaringly over the fact that such prepositions often lead to the accidents in the area. It is pertinent to mention many accidents that occur in this region are due to overloading, but traffic police's deep slumber is the main cause that is letting such practice go on unabated.
