Raina Warriors, Challengers advance in Summer Cup

AKHNOOR, June 28: Raina Warriors and New Challengers Jammu won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing Summer Cup Akhnoor Cricket Tournament, organised by Singh Club at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here today.
In the first round match, Raina Warriors defeated Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (YSCE) by 68 runs, courtesy four wickets haul from Aman.
Earlier, batting first, Raina Warriors made 168 runs losing all their wickets in 17.5 overs. Samad (36 off 20 balls), Vivek (44 off 27 balls) and Sahil (26 off 17 balls) were top scorers. From YSCE, Shashi, Udey and Anshuman took one wicket each.
In reply, YSCE bowled out for 100 runs in 17.2 overs. Shashi (35 off 35 balls) and Rashiv (22 off 16 balls) were main scorers. Aman emerged as most successful bowler with four wickets, followed by Vicky, who took two from Raina Warriors. For his four-wicket haul, Aman was declared man of the match.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, New Challenger Jammu outplayed Nagrota Cricket Club by six wickets.
Batting first, Nagrota made 150 runs for nine wickets. Rahul (36 off 29 balls), Niju (26 off 21 balls), Rajinder (18 off 17 balls) were top scorers. From Challenger, Deepak Manhas and Sahil Bhalwal shared two wickets each.
Later, Challenger attained the goal of 151 runs in 15.2 overs for four wickets. Anshu played brilliant unbeaten innings of 71 (off 50 balls) while Harsh made 18-ball 44 runs not out. Ram Dayal and Vimarsh contributed 12 runs each. Kaka, Madan and Jagnu shared one wicket each from Nagrota Club. For his 71 runs innings, Ashu was declared man of the match.
Vikas Bali, Dayal Singh, Rajinder Sharma and Deepak Mangotra officiated today's matches as umpires while Ajay Bhagat and Shanky were scorers.
This tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president of Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
