Man arrested for killing wife

UDHAMPUR, June 28: Police worked out a blind murder case of Barmeen, Ramnagar area in which dead body of a female was recovered from a nallah in Barmeen area.
On April 7 last, information was received at Police Station Ramnagar with regard to the recovery of a dead body of a female namely Rajni Devi wife of Ashok Kumar of Upper Barmeen, Tehsil Ramnagar in a nallah in Barmeen area.
Based on the information, inquest proceedings under section 174/Cr. PC was initiated in Police Station Ramnagar and Police team of Ramnagar under the supervision of Abhishek Sharma, SDPO Ramnagar and led by Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO Police Station Ramnagar started the investigation. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the said lady had strained relations with her husband and in laws due to which she was staying in her parental house at Lower Barmeen since August 2013. In this regard, a case FIR No. 104/2013 under section 307/323/498-A/RPC was also registered at P/S Ramnagar against Ashok Kumar, husband and mother-in-law of the deceased woman in the year 2013, which was challaned in the court of law.
On April 6 last, Ashok Kumar, in order to mislead every one, falsely informed his family members that he is going to Anantnag where he used to work in a Kulfi Factory. But instead, he reached Barmeen at 9 pm on the same day. On reaching there, he telephonically called her wife to a nearby nallah in Barmeen. When she came there, both of them had some heated exchange of words, due to which Ashok Kumar gave a fist blow to Rajni Devi, caught hold her neck and dipped her face in the water till she died on the spot. After committing the crime, the accused escaped from the spot. During the course of investigation, police party picked up Ashok Kumar and subjected him to thorough interrogation. During the course of interrogation, the accused broke down and admitted commission of the crime. On this, the inquest proceeding was converted into Case FIR No. 60/2015 U/S 302 RPC at Police Station Ramnagar. Further investigation of the case was going on.
