Weather likely to turn wet again from today in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 28: Weather is likely to turn wet again in the Kashmir valley, where the mercury remained below normal, much to the delight of people who are observing fast during the holy month of Ramdan. A Met department spokesperson said this afternoon that there could be scattered to isolated rain in the Kashmir valley and scattered rain or thundershowers in Jammu region from tomorrow till July 4. However, weather will remain dry in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours before it will turn wet during the subsequent three days. Though the mercury recorded surge, it was still below normal in the valley, where the flood threat was over as water level in river Jhelum was several feet below normal. Pahalgam, 100 km from here in south Kashmir, where the annual Amarnath yatra will commence from July 2, recorded further drop in the mercury. Against 8.5 degrees Celsius minimum temperature recorded on the night of June 26, it was 7.2 degree last night, three notches below normal. Rail service between Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region resumed today after remaining suspended for three days due to damage caused to tracks following heavy rains. However, rail service was normal on Srinagar-Baramulla link in north Kashmir and Srinagar-Qazigund link in south Kashmir. An official of Railways department said that a train left Banihal this morning for Srinagar via Qazigund. |
