CII celebrates 'World Youth Skills Day'

Udhampur, July 16: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J & K State Council along with ITI Udhampur organized a session on "World Youth Skills Day" at Udhampur followed by the viewing session of Prime Minister's formal launch of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY). According to press release, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Minister of State for Finance & Information Technology, Government of J&K, the Chief Guest of the Session while addressing the participants said that today there is a great need to upgrade skills in all the areas including the existing trades in various technical institutions. He said that there is lot of potential in our youth and emphasized on harnessing their skills Dr Sahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur also present at the session said that industry should look at imparting training to the students of ITI's according to their needs. The gap between industry institutions should be looked at and immediate steps should be taken to cover it. He also motivated the students of ITI to think positive and use every opportunity to enhance their skills.Earlier C P Gupta, Chairman CII J& K State Council, welcomed the dignitaries and shared information about the activities CII is doing in the skill sector. He said that CII & Pan IIT Alumni, in joint collaboration, are setting up Skill Training Centers on a residential Gurukul model. 19 such Skill Gurukuls have been set up pan India at the district level. Gupta appreciated the step taken by Hon'ble Prime minister and his vision for making India a hub of skilled manpower. During the session, job offers were also given to few students and best student and best trainer award was also given by the Chief Guest.Pooja Gupta, Member IMC , ITI Udhampur coordinated the session and R K Banotra, Principal ITI Udhampur concluded the session with the Vote of Thanks to the panelists and the participants.The session was attented by over 100 participants including eminent industry leaders, government officials, members of IMC, faculty and students of ITI Udhampur.
