Axing of dead wood increases deliverance of administration | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 16: The axing of the officials has started showing desired effect. The administration has become more prompt in addressing the concerns of the public and also replying to the queries of the senior officials, which earlier would remain pending for weeks if not months. The axing of the most corrupt officials in the first list was also aimed at sending the message that the administration was pro-people and it was determined to deliver clean and responsive governance. "Earlier the queries of the senior officials about the property details and the benami properties held by the officials in the watch dog category would remain pending. The vigilance department was worst affected by it and it slowed down the investigation. The officials in the watch-dog list knew that they could get their names either deleted or nothing would be done to them. But, this has all changed now. The officers fearing that they could be the next to be axed are giving details promptly," said a senior officer. The officer said it is because of the political will to end the corruption that officials with integrity and will to do the work have become active. "The encroachment in the Jammu city was going on for years together. The land mafia was active. But, earlier, no DC could take action and those who desired to take action were either shifted or silenced. But now the present DC is going all out against the land mafia and is getting support of the political class, which is imperative," said the official. Encouraged by the support of the political class, the DCs have pulled up their socks to undo the wrongs done during previous regime. "In the last about five-month there has not been any allegation of the corruption which has come to fore. The most notable effect has been in the education department, which earlier had become synonymous with the corruption as department of urban development had become with land mafia. Incidentally both these department in the outgoing government were held by the Congress," said the official.
