| Border people protest along IB, seek apposite compensation for losses | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, July 16 : People hailing from Bobiya village in Hiranagar of Kathua district today staged protest demonstration against state government for delaying the compensation to their loss and demanded due compensation for their losses in serious of cease fire violations last year and early this year.
One of the protestors, Subash Singh a farmer said, "We are surprised over the revenue department which made insufficient estimate for compensation to loss in cross border firing."
He said, "Mocking the farmers plight and rubbing salt on their wounds, the government has sanctioned merely Rs 300 or Rs 400 for losses in lakhs.
Ram Lal another local, said fresh alert at border create havoc among villagers as BSF instructed the farmer not to enter the fields.
"If the alert is continued in few days, they can't harvest their crops which would affect their livelihood," he feared.
Protestors demanded that government must review the estimate and conduct fresh survey for compensation otherwise they shall be forced to hold protest at large scale. |
