Inmates of Jagti migrant camp observe July 16 as Black Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 16: The Black day was observed today at Jagti wherein protest rallies were held under the president ship of Shadi Lal Pandita, President JTC/SKF and complete bandh was observed in Jagti Migrant Camp in the issues related to the Kashmiri Pandit migrant community. Addressing the gathering, Pandita said that through huge amount has been incurred on Water Supply Scheme Jagti, but the water supplies to are not being regulated to this camp regularly which has made the inmates to suffer hard particularly during these days of scorching sun. An amount of Rs. 14.10 crores have been incurred on this scheme but it is unfortunate that the Water Reservoir has been constructed in River Tawi which usually remains defunct and non functional during rains and rainy season due to floods in River Tawi. Pandita has said that water supplies are being regulated twice in a month, incurring such huge amounts on this water supply scheme clearly shows that mass misappropriations have been made in implementing this water supply scheme. Pandita has expressed his grave concern over unscheduled power curtailments in Jagti migrant camp further added to the sufferings of the general masses of this camp in general and the old aged and children in particular. He added that though huge amounts to the tune of approximately Rs. 500.00 crores have been incurred on construction of residential blocks in Jagti Migrant camp but it is unfortunate that most of the residential blocks have developed cracks and leakages. He further said that as per the information received under Right to Information Act, an amount of Rs. 17.19 lacs has been incurred on repairs of some blocks and still huge amounts are likely to be incurred on repairs of the remaining residential blocks. Pandita has said that through huge amount of Rs. 17.19 lacs has been incurred on repairs of some residential blocks but it is again unfortunate that the leakage in these residential blocks have not been checked as leakages are still prevailing in such blocks. This also shows that mass misappropriations are being made in the government funds. Pandita also said that in this connection it has unanimously been decided to observe 16th July as Black Day wherein protest rallies shall be held and complete band shall be observed in Jagti Migrant Camp. Pandita said that the Government of India as well as State Government had given assurances for permanent rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandita Migrant Community but nothing has been done in this regard this shows the complete failure of the both Central as well as State Government in fulfilling their commitments, leaving the Kashmiri Migrant Pandit Community to sufferings. Pandita said that the Kashmiri Pandit Migrant families have suffered huge loss during past 25 years of migration due to damages to their properties in Kashmir valley as such has demanded one time compensation of Rs. 50.00 lacs to each and every migrant pandit family. Others who were present in the meeting included, Rajinder Dhar, Sanjay Pandita, Shiban Raina, Methan Pandita, Vijay Pandita, M L Akhoon, M.L. Bhat, M.K. Tickoo, Ram ji Pandita, Rattan Lal Bhat, Sunil Raina, R.N. Pandita, C. L. Pandita, Ramesh Bhat, M.L. Pandita, Hari Krishan and other.
