JAMMU, July 16: Welcoming yet again Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Jammu on July 17, the AIIMS Coordination Committee (AIIMS-CC) on Thursday claimed that the Prime Minister will not alienate his vast Jammu constituency and make an announcement that people of Jammu region will not only get an AIIMS but also an equal share in the governance of the state. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi can't alienate his very vast constituency in Jammu region. He is fully aware of the nature of the problem the people of Jammu region have been facing since 1947 at the hands of the Delhi-backed anti-Jammu authorities in Kashmir, said Abhinav Shrama chairman AIIMS- CC and president of JKHCBA. Referring to the Modi's statement that he has worked in the state for years and feels the pulse of people of Jammu region, Abhinav Sharma said, "He would surely make an announcement committing an AIIMS for Jammu and equal share to the discriminated against people of Jammu region in the governance of the State.", Jammu, Abhinav Sharma While addressing a meeting of leading civil society members at Hotel Savoy, Residency Road, organized by S Peter, president, J&K Christian Dalit Society (CDS), Abhinav Sharma said they are only urging the authorities to set up AIIMS in Jammu as promised by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Feb 28. "Again, at Kathua, the MoS-PMO had declared that the AIIMS was always meant for Jammu," said Sharma, adding it was a solemn commitment made on the floor of the Lok Sabha, which needs to be honoured. Speakers said AIIMS-CC hoped that PM Modi would not disappoint the people of Jammu region, who hold him in high esteem and consider him as their leader and saviour. Others who addressed the meeting included vice-president, CCI, Jammu, Deepak Aggarwal, Amar Khastriya Rajput Sabha president Narain Singh, Prof Hari Om, Panun Kashmir leader Ajay Churungoo, Jugal Mahajan, Lower Raghunath Bazaar Association, vice-president, Dheeraj Pargal, Madan Gill Sr vice-president, Hameed Mattoo General Secretary, CDS and Beli Ram district president CDS, Reasi.
