ARTO Samba conducts checking, realizes Rs 92,500 as fine | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Aug 6: To check traffic violators in district Samba, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Samba Er. Kuldeep Singh along with his team of Motor Vehicle Inspectors, Madan Lal (MVI), CM Sharma (MVI) and other staff conducted an extensive checking-2015. The checking team inspected different routes of the District including Jammu -Kathua National Highway, today, and challaned a number of vehicles found violating the various provisions of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. During the scrutiny two vehicles were also seized by the team u/s 207 of MV Act. A fine of Rs 92,500 was recovered on the spot and number of other vehicles were challaned. During this checking drive, ARTO Samba Kuldeep Singh impressed upon the drivers of the vehicles to obey the traffic rules and always keep the vehicular documentation valid. Load carriers and public transport were directed to travel within the prescribed carrying capacity of their vehicles mentioned in the Registration certificates. He further said that if any driver found driving/ overloading and overcharging and plying vehicles in contravention of the route permit, their permit shall be suspended/ cancelled. He stressed upon the drivers to follow the safety norms to avoid road accidents. He further disclosed that about 80% of road accidents on Indian roads occurred due to human error/ fault and which can be avoided by the best driving practices and regular preventive maintenance of the vehicle. |
