BJP disappointed over resolution of AIIMS issue
8/7/2015 12:16:20 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 6: As the suspension of Jammu Bandh by AIIMS Coordination Committee following Union Health Ministry's letter on identifying land in Jammu and Srinagar has provided a big relief to the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, the development has disappointed a number of BJP ministers and legislators, who were eying some personal gains out of the impasse.
Hopeful of some heads getting rolled down in the wake of controversy, some BJP ministers were dreaming of Deputy Chiefministership while a number of the party legislators were too expecting reshuffle and major responsibility for them.
However, the suspension of six-day Jammu Bandh and life returning to normal have shattered all dreams of these BJP expectants who are more disappointed than Congress, which is reportedly not satisfied over the essence of Union Health Ministry's communiqué to the State Government on identifying land for AIIMS.
According to the sources, ever since the meeting of BJP delegation with Union Health Minister J P Nadda and others at New Delhi, last week, Dr Nirmal Singh was sidelined over the issue on the direction of party high command, which was annoyed over lack of political acumen of Deputy Chief Minister in handling the situation.
After this development, speculations were agog that the BJP high command was contemplating to remove Nirmal Singh from the post of Deputy Chief Minister besides affecting a minor reshuffle of the party ministries. This was the apparent reason that BJP minister as well as the Legislators did not make any serious effort for resolution of the problem and an end to the strike, sources explained. Instead of pacifying the people of Jammu, the BJP leaders tried to fuel the agitation by resorting to oppressive measures through Police. Further, the New Delhi was advised to slow down the process on AIIMS by claiming that any agreement with the ACC would make Abhinav Sharma a hero in Jammu, sources said.
However the AIIMS Coordination Committee played a matured role and did not fall in the trap of BJP leaders. Besides maintaining peace, the Jammu Bandh was suspended keeping in view the initiative of Union Health Ministry and to avoid more inconvenience to Jammuites.
