Bhaderwah, Aug 6: The only road link connecting Bhaderwah and Doda towns of this mountainous district remained closed for the 5th consecutive day due to landslides in Sarnai area. Reports said that due to closure of road, the people residing in various areas of tehsil Bhaderwah are facing problems as they are facing shortage of ration, kerosene oil, medical facilities etc. The people have appealed the concerned authorities to remove the landslides and make the road through for vehicular movement at the earliest. They said that the road has been reduced to half due to accumulation of debris all along this stretch."Sunken patches, recurring landslides with shooting stones has turned the road into death trap and traveling on it has become a nightmarish experience" said a passenger. However, men and machinery of GREF are on job to remove the landslides, but due to continuous landslides shooting stones they are facing problems to make the road go through. DDC Bupinder Kumar who visited the land sliding site said "We have placed seven machines at the landslide site at Sanai area on Doda-Bhaderwah road, which are clearing debris round the clock. The job is risky due to falling of stones and today we suspended the work due to heavy landslide and shooting stone once again. We are trying our best to clear the debris as early as possible". |
