Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 6 : Natrang Jammu is going to start a massive theatre initiative aimed at taking theatre to the remotest areas of the state with highly socially relevant themes. This was informed here today by Natrang Director Padamshree Balwant Thakur in a press briefing which was held at Natrang Studio theatre Jammu. Giving details Balwant Thakur informed that from Sunday 9th of August, 2015 Natrang is starting a touring programme with three plays which will be staged in the remotest villages of Poonch District of Jammu province. This unique effort of taking theatre to remote areas is locally supported by Krishna Ghathi Brigade, Poonch.
The first such programme will open at village Gulpur in Poonch on Sunday 9th of August at 4 pm in which three plays written and directed by Balwant Thakur will feature namely 'Suno Eh Kahani' (Dogri/Pahari) 'Choona Hai Aasmaan' (Hindustani) and 'Iss Gran Gi Swarg Banai Lo' (Dogri/Pahari). The second programme will be held at village Jhallas (Poonch) on Monday 10th August, 2015. On Tuesday 11th of August Natrang team will reach at Mankot. The last show of the series will be held on 13th of August at Mendar.
The play 'Suno Eh Kahani' propagates the theme of 'Beti Bachaao Beti Padaao' and women empowerment in a highly entertaining manner. Using varied traditional performing modes, the play being lyrical and rooted in the cultural soil and flavour of the region is very engrossing and captivating which effectively educates the masses about gender equality, women education and empowerment. The play 'Choona Hai Aasmaan' revolves around a young man who aspires to excel and achieve. His aspiration of scaling new heights and touching the skies could only be achieved when there are no disturbances, no chaos, no space for hatred for each other but an inspiring peaceful environment which encourages every-one to aspire and achieve.
Balwant Thakur further informed that larger audiences are expected to come and witness these highly educative plays. District administration has also been requested to support this noble endeavour of Natrang.
