Budha Amarnath ji "chattani" is an ancient and unique shiva temple located in an area well known as 'Rajpura' Mandi. Nearly 25 kilometres north east of the Poonch town. It is situated in the Pir Panchal range of the mountains. The climate of this place is very cool and pleasant. This place is surrounded by two beautiful snow bound hills, lush green trees and left of the river Pulasta. The river which flows near the mandir which is believed by the locals that Ravana’s Grandfather "Pulasta Rishi" performed his Tapasya there and thus is well known as the "Pulast River". The temple of the Budha Amarnath ji has been constructed with one big stone. There are four doors in the temple north, east, west and south sides which indicate that the doors are open for all varnas. A large number of old and new idols also have been placed inside the temple premises and lord Shiva manifested himself in the form of 'Chakmak' white stone which is naturally shiv Lingham . In holy temple of the Baba Budha Amarnath ji, the devotees have a dip in a spring that flows at a position directly lower than the temple with regard to purification and then have Darshan by immortal Lord Shiva and tends to make offerings by chanting the actual holy mantras, bham bham bholay, bhookhay ko ann pyasay ko pani jai budha amarnathji chattani slogans the devotees through far off places come to spend their obeisance to Lord Shiva within this holy sacred place. The logically legends of this temple is closely connected with Lord Shiva and Parvati. A story about mythical is that lord Shiva, accompanied by goddess parvati on his trip to Amarnath from Kailash had made a halt at Budha Amarnath ji Raipura Mandi and the other story is also connected with rishi Pulatsya grandfather of the (Ravana) had a darshan of lord Shiva at Budha Amarnath ji . It is also believed that Budha Amarnath "chattani" is older than Amarnath ji Of Srinagar and the pilgrimage to Amarnath cave in Srinagar remains incomplete without a visit to this place of Shri Budha Amarnath ji Chattani in Poonch District. It is believed that the almighty Shiva grants wishes to everyone that makes a pilgrimage to Shri Buddha Amarnath ji in Mandi poonch. Before partition between India and Pakistan a large number of people usually used to visit Shri Budha Amarnath ji through areas now illegally occupied by Pakistan. Now this sacred place is regular visit of thousands of people from different party of the country on eve of Buddha Amarnathji yatra, Raksha Bandhan and also on the eve of Shivratri. The route to reach the sacred place of the Budha Amarnath "Chattani" is from Jammu -via- Sunderbani, Lamberi, Nowshera, Rajouri, Bhimbergali, Surankote, Kalai than Poonch. There is also a route from Kalai-via chandak to Mandi directly. But usually yatries stay in poonch during yatra times where the arrangements for the yatries in Dashnami Akhara Poonch town. Pilgrims to Budha Amarnathji Yatra are treated as respectable guests by the organizing committee and the district administration of Poonch. Irrespective of religion and region all Yatris are provided every possible help to facilitate in performing pilgrimage in a good atmosphere. The boarding, lodging facilities are also provided to yatries by the mandir committees of dashnami akhara poonch and Budha amarnath Mandi and the arrangements of this yatra have been revised every year by the district administration as well as the security officials prevent any untoward incident. The yatra starts from Jammu to Poonch langers and stalls are installed by different organizations in yatra route to provide basic facilities, proper sanitation to yatries and when the yatra reaches poonch town stays there at night in Poonch city and leaves for the Budha Amarnath Mandir for performing Darshan of the Baba Budha Amarnath 'Chattani' next day.On the occasions of Raksha Bandhan, a big festival, known as Budha Amarnath Ji Mela is kept at the temple of the Budha Amarnath ji. Devotees in thousands from different places visit the shrine of Shri Budha Amarnath ji on Shravan Poornima, large rush is also witnessed from rest of the country at this sacred place every year. The yatra of the Budha Amarnath ji 'Chattani' starts first week of the August every year till the Raksha Bandhan. And before the two days of the Raksha Bandhan a 'Chhari yatra' leaves from Dashnami Akhara Poonch town to the holy sacred place of the Baba Budha Amarnath ji "chattani". It is a religious congregation that gathers to perform the pooja of Chhari Mubarak on occasion of Shravan Poornima (Raksha Bandhan). Many pilgrims visit Shri Budha Amarnath Mandir every year to pay tributes to the sacred Mace ( Chhari Mubarak) and also worships comprises 'Bhajan',satsang and pravachans from the Swami ji of the Dashnami Akhara. Thousands of the pilgrims from the different parts of the country joined this annual 'Chhari Yatra'of the Buddha Amarnathji in poonch district. The holy Mace (Chhari Mubarak) for Shri Baba Budha Amarnath ji Temple is usually flagged off at poonch after a huge public Satsang in which thousands of men, women, old and young participates for paying respect to Lord Shiva. In the morning the pooja of the chhari Mubarak starts with havan, chanting mantras and satsang in Dashnami Akhara Poonch, a guard of honor is also offered to Chhari Mubarak at the front of the gate of Dashnami Akhara and the holy Mace ( Chhari Mubarak ) is taken by the swami ji in a way of procession from Poonch town toward shri Budha Amarnath ji .The procession of Chhari Mubarak starts from Dashnami Akhara Poonch where swami ji and holy Mace (chhari Mubarak) are carried on a 'Palki' accompanied by thousands of devotees from all the communities finally finishes at the shri Budha Amarnath Ji chattani Mandir. A large number of stalls, and langers also installed for the yatries during the chhari Mubarak yatra. Passing from various places nearly 25 k.ms reaches mandi temple of the Budha Amarnath ji "chattani" in the evening. Enroute to the Budha Amarnath Ji Mandir, the actual procession halts at the 'Chandak'., The procession be at the destination on the same day in the mid-day where it is received through local people, army personnel, district administration , leaders of the all political parties ,mandir committee etc. A safeguard of honour by the Security Force also given at the front of shri Budha Amarnath Ji Mandir marks the end of the actual Yatra and the Chhari Mubarak taken inside the Mandir in a ceremonious manner followed by the, bham bham bholay slogans, poojan and Aarti of lord Shiva. During the period of Budha Amarnathji yatra and the time of Chhari Mubarak yatra on way to mandir premises various kinds of stalls are to be setup for the yatries Which sell 'Puja-ware', blossoms, souvenirs for the thousands in the procession to buy. It's pleasantly surprising that these booths are managed by local peoples of all the communities that clearly show the communal tranquility in this pluralistic society.
