Major reshuffle of Assistant professors on cards in Higher Education Deptt | Affluent lobbying hard to retain their postings in city colleges | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report jammu, Aug 21: A major reshuffle of Assistant Professors working in various degree colleges of state, is on cards as the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education department is preparing lists while the orders in this connection are likely to be issued in coming few days. The affluent Assistant Professors are reportedly lobbying hard to retain their postings in city limits, despite the fact that majority of them have been serving in city limits for the last more than one decade. Sources informed Early Times that a team of higher officials including Commissioner Secretary, Director Colleges was engaged in preparing the lists of transfers. "All the records pertaining to particulars of Assistant Professors and their duration of stay was sought by Commissioner Secretary from the lower rung officials and Commissioner Secretary is directly monitoring the formulation of transfer lists", sources said. They further informed that the administration has decided to transfer all the Assistant Professors to rural areas-who have been enjoying postings in city limits owing to close allegiance to previous government, while those who have been serving in far flung areas despite expiry of their three years' tenure have pinned high hopes on new dispensation. "Some of the affluent Assistant Lecturers, who have been enjoying their postings for the last many years have been leaving no stone unturned to influence the administration to retain their postings in city limits", sources said. They further added that some of these affluent Assistant Lecturers have also been making rounds of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders to get them adjusted on their choice postings. "There is a long list of Assistant Professors, who are either relatives of politicians or bureaucrats or enjoying patronage of people in power corridors, who have been shuttling from one city-college to another due to political clout", an Assistant Professor said, adding that now the hopes were on new Education Minister, who might execute the transfers without any intervention of these affluent Assistant College lecturers. |
