Was ReTs- Govt tussle a drama? | Akhter shelves scrutiny of files | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 21: The Education Minister, Naeem Akhter has shelved the screening of degrees of the ReTs, an issue that forced the teachers to come out of the classrooms to demonstrate their anger on the roads. Following agitation by the teachers, the Government declared to scrutinize the 'suspicious' degrees of ReTs. But merely 10 days after, the proposal to verify the degree certificates of ReTs has been put under the carpet. The candidates with fake degrees are happy. Top sources within the Education Department revealed that no order has been issued by the incumbent Education Minister to scrutinize the degrees of the ReT teachers in Jammu and Kashmir. "Earlier, there was a discussion that the ReTs who have degrees via the distance mode had to face the scrutiny but all of sudden the issue was undermined with no action being taken so far," one of the officials told Early Times. It was informed further that the Education Minister was appraised about the subtlety of the issue wherein the ReT teachers have the suspicious degrees, hence damaging the very vitals of education sector in the State. The changing stand of the Education Minister has disappointed all those who hailed him for his `bold' steps. They have now started believing that it was a stage managed show to gain political mileage. |
