Huge haul of banned forest produce seized in Marwah Sub Division 8/21/2015 11:57:17 PM Early Times Reprot Kishtwar Aug 21: In a major crackdown on forest smugglers, team of Forest Protection Force (FPF) Kishtwar and Forest Division Marwah of Kishtwar District seized a massive consignment of banned forest produce from different areas of Marwah Sub Division of Kishtwar District; however no arrest has been made in this regard when last report came in. "On the basis of specific input, a joint operation was carried out by Forest Division Marwah and Forest Protection Force led by Range Officer Marwah Mohammad Iqbal and Inspector FPF Altaf Wani in Anyar village of Marwah some 15 KM foot journey from Marwah Sub Division Headquarter Nawapachi and seized 900 Kg of banned forest produce from the said village dumped at an isolated places," said reliable sources to "Early Times." They said, "In similar raid, 100 Kg of forest produce Khour and 25 Kg Nagshatri was also seized from Margi village of Warwan and Astangham village of Marwah, both having road connectivity." Sources said, "Two different FIR's have been registered by the Forest Department under relevant sections of forest Act after seizing huge cache of banned forest produce. Sources said, that both the operations were carried out under the direct supervision of DFO Marwah Vijay Kumar and Dy. Director FPF Kishtwar Khalid Amin Mehta. Pertinent to mention that Anyar locality of Marwah is considered a highly militancy infested area and this is the first kind of operation carried out by the forest department in this years in last more than 25 years since the militancy broke out in the state. "Senior forest officers termed the seizure of 1025 Kg banned forest produce as a major success achieved by the department in far flung areas of the state, sources said, adding, "similar operations will be carried out in other parts of state including in the Kishtwar District."   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
