Security beefed up for Budha Amarnath pilgrimage: DIG | | | Early Times Reoprt RAJOURI, Aug 21: Security arrangements have further been tightened for the Budha Amarnath pilgrimage following inputs of possible attempts by the terrorists to enter the Indian soil with the covert help of heavy shelling/firing by the Pakistan army on army installations and civil population in both the frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch. This was disclosed by A K Attri, DIG, Rajouri-Poonch range while interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of a function He termed the security arrangements in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch as high profile. "Tight security arrangements have been made in both the districts keeping in view the shelling on LoC as well as the ongoing Budha Amarnath Yatra. Intelligence inputs point out towards possible infiltration attempts under the garb of heavy shelling from Balakote, Hamirpur, Tarkundi and KG sectors" said DIG. He added that administrations in both the districts can't take any risk after such inputs and accordingly security arrangements have been tightened in all the forward villages where patrolling has been stepped up. Expressing satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the Budha Amarnath pilgrimage, DIG Attri also said that all sort of arrangements are in place and the whole route of yatra and all the base camps are under tight security cover. When asked about recent inputs about suspicious movements in some areas of Rajouri and Poonch, DIG Attri said, "So far all the received inputs were verified and search had been conducted but without any results, however, police have been carrying out search and destroy operations after every input". Meanwhile, on the third day of Budha Amarnath pilgrimage 881 yatries including 670 men, 170 women and 41 children from Haryana and Delhi reached Rajouri from Jammu at about 1:30 pm. |
