Shortage of faculty triggers massive protest, students boycott classes, block road | | | Early Times Reoprt KATHUA, Aug 21: Shortage of faculty, infrastructure and alleged rude nature of Principal as well as Physical Education Teacher (PET) today triggered rage among students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kathua who today boycotted classes and blocked College road for at least two hours. The protest burst out when a group of students projected their demand for lecturers and infrastructure before the Principal Omita Seotra and PET but Principal and her subordinate PET allegedly made lewd comments on character of the girl students. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched 'Beti- Bachao- Beti Padao' scheme with much fanfare but sorry to say few government employees are out to derail his vision by making lewd comments on the character of girl students," Anjali, a student said while lashing out at the behavior of the Principal. Azra Parveen, a student said recent transfers of lecturers made by DSE Jammu added their sufferings as these were made against vacant posts of Dogri, Maths, IT and Science subjects. She added that there were 72 students of Dogri, approx 50 of Maths and Science subjects each who are now sufferings due to shortage of faculty. Rahul Dev Sharma, Gen. Secy State ABVP Unit, also condemned rude nature of both the employees and added that teachers conduct their classes in open even during scorching heat and in rainy season. |
