Kupwara Aug 21: The condition of Kupwara Bohipora College road in north Kashmir district is in worst condition courtesy callous approach of the nodal authorities entrusted to maintain the said road while the residents living in the area are facing brunt of this lackadaisical attitude of the concerned authorities.
The worn-out non macadamized road not only presents a shabby look but gives the visitors a dusty and bumpy ride giving an impression that visitors are moving to an area existing in medieval period. Majority of the roads of the district lie in shambles forcing the vehicular movement at snail's pace, the residents are up in arms against Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department as well as Beacon authorities who have been entrusted the responsibility of maintaining the roads.
Locals lamented that the infamous roads in news for their unforgettable bumpy rides also include Kupwara -Degree College which is a vital road in Bohipora area but is in worst condition since a decade. The residents of Hayhama in north Kashmir's Kupwara district are up in arms against the beacon authorities for not giving a due and satisfactory treatment to the dilapidated Hayhama road and are aggravating miseries of people in the area.
"The sunny days though are easily passed when pedestrians have only to pass through dusty road stretch but when it rains they are forced to wade through dirty water and which is difficult for children and the aged person in the area," Jahangir Ahmad , a local from area said.
Zubair Ahmad, a collegiate said, "We the student community face a lot of problems while going to college because of bad condition of roads and we often get late to colleges due to slow pace of traffic movement due to bad shape of roads of our area.
The locals said the dilapidated roads have made them vulnerable to accident mishaps and further have appealed to the authorities to look into their miseries.
