Irked over erratic power supply, locals lock SE-PDD's office 8/22/2015 12:05:42 AM Early Times Report Kathua, Aug 21: Agitated over the erratic power supply due to faulty electrical transformers in Kathua the residents of Nagrota- Mertha while staging a demonstration locked Office of the Superintending Engineer (Electrical) M & RE Circle Kathua to register their resentment. Earlier residents staged protest demonstration and amid sloganeering against Power Development Department also expressed resentment against department for not deploying Lineman in Nagrota village. Local Sarpanch who led the protest said people are fed up to false assurances of PDD employees who ensured to deploy lineman in the village for the maintenance of the looming High Tension wire passing through village but nothing has been done. He added that people are living in high risk. Meanwhile residents of Chak Shama called on XEn Kathua and projected their demand for replacement of faulty electric transformer. While interacting to media, deputainuists said that the village situated along International border and in complete darkness for 20 days. They apprised the authority that transformer installed in area is out of order and demanded early replacement. XEn Kathua ensured the people to replace the same within hours but nothing has been done till date. Locals also mentioned that MLA Hiranagar also led the deputation in previous time and appealed the XEn to replace but all in vain. They said erratic power supply affect their pump set and irrigation to agricultural land.
