Early Times Report

Rajouri, Aug 21: The students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) demanding action against the culprits of infamous scholarship scam / financial irregularities continued their indefinite strike which has entered 13th consecutive day here today.
Despite hectic efforts for the last three consecutive days by Deputy Commissioner, Deepati Uppal and Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri to settle the dead-lock between University Administration and striking students, the students reiterated their main demands including removal of Registrar and re-audit of three major accounts of the university for which the students have apprehensions that large chunk of cash have been misappropriated from these accounts along with scholarship money.
Students have been alleging that as Registrar was having the Drawing & Disbursing powers, his active involvement in the scholarship scam/financial irregularities has been figured during police investigation and he should not be on the chair during further investigation. Pertinent to mention the protesting students on Wednesday and Thursday have locked all the university staff including Vice Chancellor and Registrar and after the intervention by DC and SSP they opened the gate of the university at about 3 am on Thursday. "Since VC-BGSBU allegedly has used abusive language with the students during his meeting with deputation of students in his chamber on Wednesday, the students are demanding apology from him and removal of Registrar.
Meanwhile some students were present in some classes reportedly today after the alleged threats by the teaching fraternity, the protesting students alleged and added that it was projected as students have been divided on the issue of continuing the indefinite strike.
"Students especially girl students are being traumatized after these threats" said a student leader while interacting with media persons.
Students have demanded that the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed, who is also Chancellor of BGSBU, should intervene in this matter and to save the BGSBU from further scandals.
