US chokes Pak guns on border | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 21: The Pakistani guns finally fell silent on the border following US pressure. Another incident that has rattled and rocked Pakistan is the decision of Islamabad not to host the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union meeting that was scheduled to be held next month in Islamabad. The US has decided to host the CPU meeting in New York after Islamabad insisted that it would not invite speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to the CPU meet. This obdurate stand taken by Pakistan evoked a severe reaction from India. New Delhi threatened to boycott the meet. Official sources in New Delhi said that Washington which is keen on promoting bilateral talks between India and Pakistan, pressurized Islamabad, especially the top Pak Army authorities. |
