Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 1: Accusing the Principal Sri Pratap High School (SPHS), of allegedly attempting to molest their minor son, a family from Tangdar sector in frontier Kupwara Tuesday, held massive protests here demanding stringent actions against the school head. Amid sloganeering, the aggrieved family members gathered at Press Enclave this afternoon and held protests against the SPHS Principal for allegedly attempting to molest their son. The family members appealed Minister for Education, Nayeem Akhtar to order an inquiry into the issue so that the accused Principal is brought to book. They alleged that their son who is studying in the school in 9th class was allegedly molested by the Principal inside the school washroom last week. "The incident took place inside the school washroom last week. The accused, Principal, initially offered rupees five thousand to him for indulging in unabashed act, however when my son refused his offer he threatened him with dire consequences if he disclosed the facts about the incident ," alleged Sajjad, the victim student's father. Despite repeated calls and an SMS to Director Education, Shah Faisal could not be contacted. He said after perceiving Principals intentions, his son ran away and tried to lodge a complaint against the Principal, however the school authorities refused to entertain the complaint and instead requested him to keep mum. "He is shocked and intends to quit studies. I am a poor man living in rented room here, I was intending to provide good education to my ward but the moment we came to know about the incident everyone here is in shock," he added. The protesting family members also accused the police of trying to shield the accused Principal besides threatening them to lodge a counter FIR against them in case they expose they won't stop false propaganda against him . When contacted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar Amit Kumar said "I don't think police could have threatened them, but I will definitely look into the issue once I reach Kashmir as I am out of station for few days". "We went to police and requested them to lodge an FIR against the Principal; however our request was turned down by saying that a counter Fir will be lodged against all the family members in case they expose the issue," said Sajjad. He appealed the Director General of Police (DGP) and other police higher ups to personally intervene in the matter so that justice will be delivered to their minor son. |
