He is neither Minister nor Legislator but Inf Deptt is at his beck and call | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 1: BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi is neither a Minister nor a Legislator (MLA or MLC) but the J&K Information Department has of late been found giving him undue importance in its press notes. It has even covered his individual functions on certain occasions. Precisely, Information Department is meant to highlight the Government achievements by covering the functions of ministers, prominent policy makers and ruling party legislators. In the previous governments in the State, the department was never found covering the functions of those political activists who held no position in the government. Yudhvir too holds no position in the Government but the Information Department nowadays is at his beck and call for "obvious" reasons. It has been found issuing press notes of his public meetings and other functions. "This is against the Government norms. The department is setting a wrong precedence," a senior officer of Information Department said and added, "There are hundreds of ruling party office bearers in the State. Will the department further succumb to the political compulsions and depute its employees to cover the functions of all of them?" In one such official press note, which was issued today by the department, Yudhvir's name was given undue prominence. In the photograph, that was issued to media by the department, he is standing next to Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi. He had gone to attend the function of Janamashtami celebrations. Apart from Priya, the function was also attended by Industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga and MLA Sat Sharma. His brief address in the function was included in the press note but the MLA's speech was conspicuously missing. Yudhvir is alleged to be enjoying the extra protocol even when he is neither a Minister nor a Legislator. |
