Govt School observes unauthorized holiday courtesy 'staff' | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 16: Although there is no holiday today but a Govt Primary School Sam Samat of Rajouri town was found locked even at about 11 am when a medical team under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) scheme went to the school for medical checkup under the said scheme which has left tongue wagering in the Rajouri over functioning of education department. The matter of school closure became talk of town and the region as well when the pictures of the locked school went on viral. The matter came in the back drop of the surprise visits of CEO Rajouri and came to fore when a team of medicos comprising Dr Azaz and Dr Sadia informed Dr Iqbal , BMO Darhal about the locked school who directed the team members to wait for some more time. The said team of medicos was deputed to examine students of school under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) launched with an aim to early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 'D's viz. Defects at birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, Development delays including disability. "Ironically when the school was not opened team left the school and BMO Darhal Dr Iqbal informed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) that medical checkup of the children can't be completed as the school was locked during working hours, sources said. Later the matter was brought into the notice of District administration and then Mohd Saleem Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) directed Naib tehsildar to visit the school to find out reason why the school was locked. ADC Rajouri also directed Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri to enquire the matter and accordingly concerned ZEO was directed by the CEO to visit the school. "As per verbal information was provided by the ZEO it was found that the school was closed after death of a person in the vicinity of the school building" said concerned CEO and added further action will be taken after a written report submitted by the ZEO. ADC, Mohd Saleem Ali however maintained that the school can't be closed despite the fact that the deceased may belong to one among the teachers. "It is a matter of investigation and suitable action under rules/regulations shall be initiated against the school staff," said ADC. |
