Emboldened separatists welcome starting of internet based radio station | Geelani pitches for 'pro-separatist' TV Channel | | Jehangir Rashid ET Report srinagar, Sept 16: Emboldened by the recent 'encouragement' of Pakistani Government the separatist leadership in Kashmir has welcomed the starting of the internet based radio station which has been named as 'Radio Sada-i-Hurriyat-e-Kashmir'. In their statements the separatist leaders led by chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani have hailed the radio service and termed it as a step in the right direction. These separatist leaders have exuded confidence that the radio station would help in a long way in making people aware about the Kashmir imbroglio. Geelani has moved a step further as he has pitched for starting a pro-separatist satellite channel from Kashmir. He in a statement said that the step could not get materialized so far since the separatist organizations don't have enough money to start the venture. He hoped that the gap would be filled soon and the satellite channel would also get started sooner than later. "All Parties Hurriyat Conference congratulated the sponsors and organizers of the Radio Sada-i-Hurriyat-e-Kashmir program. It is a good step towards the awareness campaign regarding the atrocities and to highlight the worst kind of human rights violations going on in Jammu & Kashmir at the hands of forces of the Government," said Geelani in a statement issued here today. Geelani said that the media has emerged as such a powerful medium in the present world that it plays a very important role in mobilizing the public opinion on any matter. He said the army and other security forces personnel are 'unleashing' worst kind of 'atrocities' upon the people of Kashmir, but due to the forced control of India, the real situation of this region does not reach to the outer world. "To fill this gap a satellite TV Channel is need of the hour. This could not happen so far due to the non-availability of resources. In this situation the internet based radio channel Radio Sada-i-Hurriyat-e-Kashmir started by the Kashmiri pro-freedom migrants is a good beginning in this process and they are worth to be thanked by the whole nation," said Geelani. Meanwhile, in a joint statement, separatist leaders Chairman Muslim Democratic League Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Chairman Islamic Political Party Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Head Kashmir Freedom Front Bashir Andrabi have felicitated 'Radio Sada-i-Hurriyat-e-Kashmir for starting its FM channel and expressed hope it will be voice of every Kashmiri home. The separatist leaders expressed satisfaction over the strike today and said that voices of conscience globally and global human rights organizations would wake up from 'slumber' with reference to 'atrocities' in Kashmir. |
