New Delhi, Sept 19: In what may strengthen India's dossier against Pakistan's homegrown terrorism, terrorist Mohammad Naved Yakub, who was caught during Udhampur attack last month, has made a request in a special court in Jammu to let him speak to his parents on the other side of the border.
According to a report Naved told the court he wants to speak to his parents whose phone number he has already given to the NIA.
"Judge Sahib, they repeatedly come to my mind. I've not spoken to them since long. Please help me speak to them on phone. I've already given their number to them (NIA)," reliable sources quoted Naved as saying.
However, NIA has informed the court that the numbers provided by Naved are dysfunctional and appear to have been disconnected.
To this, Naved says that he has also given the phone numbers of some of his friends to the NIA who can help them connect with his parents.
According to a dossier prepared to be given to Pakistan during the now-cancelled NSA level talks, Naved had undergone arms training at a Lashkar-e-Taiba camp at a jungle near Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir where a total of 40 trainees were lodged.
"Towards the end of this training, in early December 2014, Jamat-ud-Dawa held an 'ijtema' (congregation) at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore. All the trainees, including Naved were transported from Muzaffarabad to Lahore to perform security duties at the 'ijtema' venue. Naved was deployed close to the entrance of a pedestrian under-pass near Minar-e-Pakistan," the dossier says.
In his early 20s, Naved along with his accomplice Mohammed Noman alias Momin had carried out a terror strike on a BSF convoy on August five in Udhampur killing two personnel of the border guarding force. Momin was killed in retaliatory fire while Naved was foxed and nabbed by two villagers whom he wanted to kidnap.
