Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 19: The Director of Jammu University's College Development Council (CDC) is allegedly trying to influence the finding of enquiry committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor to probe the recently surfaced books scam. Well-placed sources told Early Times that the Director Jai Kumar, who is since under scanner for purchasing books worth Rs 40,000 for his doctor daughter from university funds, has been trying to influence the three-member probe panel. The panel members include Prof Kuldeep Sharma, Dean Life Sciences Faculty, Prof Naresh Kumar and Prof Kulwant Singh. Their report is likely to be presented to the VC next week, said sources, adding that in-between the CD Director has offered inspection duties to committee members. "Being CDC head, Jai Kumar has approached these professors for inspection so that favourable report can be formed," sources said. The committee members are not willing to go for inspection duty, though. "The university pays fee to Inspector. Moreover, the college where inspection is conducted also offers gift. So he (Jai Kumar) is trying to convince inquiry by offering inspection duties," they added. Notably, the scam was exposed by Early Times in its July 18 edition. The expose prompted the varsity to order a probe. |
