Sunderbani, Sept 19: While the Minister for Forests and Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat since donning the ministry had announced stern measure to cleanse the state government land of encroachers, many such illegal traders' are still in the business enjoying different political, bureaucratic and influential patronages holding the forest land encroached with no action initiated against them.
In this regard, the striking example comes from tehsil Sunderbani in the villages Nala Makol and Nohoti, where some of the hardcore grabbers still are in the possession of the forest lands measuring hundreds of kanals of land where they have put up even the fencing under the very nose of the administration. To cite a living example of one Shankar Dass of Nohoti, the notorious land grabber has 60 kanals of the illegal forest land under his possession which is patronized by some ministers, influential bureaucrats who are equal shareholders in the booty.
Many reminders of this illegal business being going on were sent to the earlier district forest officer, who put up a deaf ear to the pleas of the villages.
However, the new DFO A D Singh who has recently joined his services in Sunderbani has assured to take the cognizance of the illegal trade of land encroachment and assured stern action against the culprits.
"Since I have joined only two months back here, yet I will put in all efforts to cleanse the area from the land grabbers as soon as possible," said AD Singh.
The Forest minister Bali Bhagat also expressed his serious concern over such illegal activity and has sought details of the areas under the illegal occupation of the land grabbers .
" You send me the details of all land under encroached by the culprits so that I can send the same information to my officers for the follow up," said Minister for Forests and Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat while talking to Early Times.
He said any attempt at any corner of the state regarding the encroachment is being thwarted by his ministry as he wants all forest lands to be free from the illegal encroachers.
Meanwhile the villagers of the area inform that the encroachers have grabbed the land in connivance with other forest officials and guards on duty who are also shareholders in the loot.
It is pertinent to mention here that Minister for Forests and Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat on July 25 had said that everyone is equal before law irrespective of caste, creed, region, religion or any other basis and serving of notice by the Forest Department to a former minister is a testimony to this fact that action against encroachers would continue.
He said this step has sent a strong message that the anti-encroachment drive of the forest department will continue with more intensity in future and no one will be allowed to encroach even a single inch of forest land in the state.
The Minister said that the Forest Department's action of retrieving forest land from land grabbers/encroachers is being appreciated by the people. He said 3200 kanals of forest land have already been retrieved from the encroachers since the formation of BJP-PDP coalition government in the State. |
