Part of stolen arms, ammunition recovered, thieves still at large

Jammu, Sept 19: Police claimed to recover a part of stolen arms and ammunition which were stolen from an Armoury shop in the month of July with the recovery of three guns and some live cartridges from open plot in city outskirts here today. This is second recovery of arms and ammunition after first made on August 31. For inept atleast six 12 bore guns and some 1000 rounds used in different firearms were stolen from M/s Shah Armory in Mangal Market Railway Station under the jurisdiction of the Trikuta Nagar Police Station on July 12/13.
Police sources said the catch was made after searches were launches on the tip off information given by one Surinder Sharma s/o Girdhari Lal Sharma r/o Keryani Talab Narwal stating two suspicious black colours bags lying abandoned in his field.
Sources said after receiving information SDPO East Rafiq Manhas along with I/C PP Narwal Vishal Singh and SHO Trikuta Nagar Naveen Angral rushed on the spot and seized the bags from which three twelve bore double barrel shot guns and 116 rounds recovered.
"After that dog squad was pressed into service to get some leads who abandoned the suspicious bags and later searches were fanned out in near surroundings also.
Sharing information, a senior police officer said that it was found that these weapons were the part of ammunition which was stolen some weeks ago from the M/s Shah Armory and a case under FIR no.166/2015 U/s 457/380 RPC already stands registered in this regard at in P/S Trikutanagar and matter is under investigation. On August 31, Trikuta Nagar police had recovered 470 live rounds from a plot situated nearby the Kawa Institute at Narwal Bala area on National Highway. Pertinently some unidentified persons broke into an armory shop M/s Shah Armory in Mangal Market Railway Station under the jurisdiction of the Trikuta Nagar police station on July 12/13 and decamped with six guns and six hundred rounds. The persons involved in the theft case are still absconding.
