Gastroenteritis hits Bhaderwah, 50 fall ill | 3 shifted to GMC Jammu | | Early Times Report
BHADERWAH, Sept 19: Ffty persons have fallen prey to gastroenteritis in Bhaderwah. Three of the infected, according to reports are serious and have been shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment. Contaminated water is believed to be the reason behind the outbreak. Most of the cases have been reported from Udrana , Gatha , Dandi and other half dozen parts of the Bhaderwah town. The infected patients have been treated in the Sub district hospital , Bhaderwah. The people of the area hold public Health Engineering (PHE) department responsible for the spread of the disease. Talking to Early Times, BMO Bhaderwah , Dr Yudvir Singh Kotwal confirmed the spread of 'Diarrhea' in the area and said that around 50 patients have been suffering from the disease. He added that every day 10 patients are visiting hospital with the Diarrhea. "We have provided proper medical care to the patients and casual leave of all doctors stands cancelled. The people have also been told to drink boiled water. He said door-to-door medical check-up of people especially the children was being conducted to ensure that the infection does not spread further. "Since the infection is water-borne, we have advised people to consume boiled water and refrain from self-medication in case of any complications," added the BMO. He said that he cannot comment on the exact reason behind the spread of disease but Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah is on high alert. He said samples of water stool and blood had been sent for testing and reports were awaited. |
