Government committed to impose ban on sale of beef in state: Deputy CM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 19: Toughening its stand on the issue of ban on sale of beef, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today claimed the state government was committed to strictly implement the ban on sale of beef as per the directions of the High Court. Interacting with the media persons here on the sidelines of a function, Dr Singh told reporters said that it is the responsibility of the state government to strictly implement the ban on sale of beef. Ironically, not a single defaulter has been booked till date even though open sale of beef and slaughtering of bovine animals is going on in different parts of Kashmir valley. Meanwhile, VHP has also threatened to launch massive state wide agitation against the attempts to revoke ban on beef. VHP state President Leela Karan Sharma on Friday had threatened to even launch economic blockade of Kashmir valley if government went ahead with the decision to discuss the beef ban bill and revoke the same. Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) chairman Showkat Chowdhary had said that VHP is trying to create division between Jammu and Kashmir divisions by playing 'divisive' politics. KEA said if Kashmir was dependent on supplies from Jammu, the Jammu region is also depended on the market from Valley. "Jammu traders have main market share from Kashmir. Enforcing economic blockade will only weaken the Jammu based business community," said Chowdhary. "VHP is creating trouble between Jammu region and Kashmir region. State government should clampdown on such elements which are trying to create division between Jammu region and Kashmir region. When legislators are willing to hold discussion on it, how can a particular party take whole J&K hostage," questioned Chowdhary. |
