MPEJ demands enhanced quota for Jammu in Lateral Entry Scheme | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 19: Terming the Government nod to the Lateral Entry Scheme for Engineering Diploma holders as another discriminatory step with Jammu region, the Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ) said that after much delay only a lame order was issued by the higher education department. Member of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice, Kuldeep Kumar Rao in a press statement issued here today said that after a much long and strong hue and cry from the Engineering Diploma holders and the public of Jammu division, the government issued an order on September 17 last that under Lateral Entry Scheme of admission directly to 3rd semester of Bachelor in Engineering courses for both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, admission be given to such Engineering Diploma holders/B.Sc. degree holders from the present session 2015-16. The discrimination with Jammu region has been only partially redressed, while in other states, the quota from the Diploma holders is 20%, only 10% has been sanctioned for Jammu Division. It has been reliably learned that in Kashmir division it is already 20%. So by naming Kashmir division also in the said order, the government is again hoodwinking Jammuites and giving them only 10% for Engineering diploma holders and also to the B.Sc. degree holders. Rao expressed resentment and demand that the quota for Jammu division should also be fixed at 20% instead of 10%. |
