Yashpaul awarded with Sahitya Akademi's national translation award | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 19: Yashpaul Nirmal, a young poet, short story writer, critic, translator and cultural activist of the state was awarded with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi's National Translation Award for his Book "Mian Deedo". The awarded book of Nirmal was translation of original Punjabi Play Deedo Jamwal written by Kripa Sagar and Published in 1934 from Lahore (now in Pakistan). The award was presented in an impressive function at Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh Assam followed by a Translators Meet Programme in which all the translators of different languages shared their experiences. On this occasion, eminent Oria writer Pratibha Rai was the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor Dibrugarh University was the Guest of Honour while the function was presided over by the eminent Hindi Writer, Scholar and President of Sahitya Akademi Prof. Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari. President Sahitya Akademi Prof Tiwari honoured all the translators with the traditional Assamese Gamsha and presented a cheque of Rs 50000 and a citation to the all awardees. |
