EARLY TIMES SPECIAL
Jammu, Sept 27: Bhaderwah campus had hired five buildings on rent which includes, Guest house, Rector House, boys' hostel, girls' hostel and faculty house in 2006. Rent of all the buildings has been assessed and re-assessed time to time by the executive engineer, PWD, which is always a condition for any government agency to pay rent of the building hired. In 2014, the girls' hostel was shifted from Bhaderwah city to village building which belongs to Aejaz Ahmed Beg. Rent of the present girls hostel, instead of being assessed by the PWD executive engineer has been assessed by the committee constituted by the Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, Prof G M Bhat. As per government norms, only the PWD executive engineer is authorized to assess the rent of the buildings hired by the government agencies. The rent of the new girls' hostel is assessed at Rs 23,000 which is said to be on the higher side, according to official sources. There are four other buildings hired by the Bhaderwah campus in the main Bhaderwah city but none of them has such a high rent. From the sources it has allegedly come to notice that Aejaz Ahmed, owner of the building, is related to the Rector. Prof Bhat, allegedly using his position of Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, not only changed the girls' hostel for the benefit of Aejaz Ahmed but also did not forward the case of rent assessment to the executive engineer to benefit his relative. On the other side, rent of faculty house has not been paid for the last one and a half year for the reasons better known to Rector. Ever since he joined the Bhaderwah Campus, he is alleged to be trying to benefit his relatives in one way or another. |
