Mirwaiz, others need to be booked under law of land | Regime that doesn't act | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: For speaking against the High Court order, banning the cow slaughter and the beef sale in J&K, separatist Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has necessarily to be booked under the law of the land. He was in his true colours when he on Friday said "any such court order or administrative orders being implemented in the valley would be met with fierce resistance". However, what he said was not surprising. He only said he believed in and had been preaching every Friday at Jamia Masjid. It is disturbing that the present PDP-BJP dispensation, like the earlier Kashmir-controlled regimes, has been allowing Mirwaiz and his ilk to spit venom. He and others like him, including Geelani, must be brought to justice so that the scourge of communalism and separatism was neutralized, but we have in the state a dispensation which has no guts to act against them. That's the reason the fanatics and separatists in the valley have got emboldened to the extent that they are openly challenging the High Court order. What Mirwaiz said was a clear case of sedition and contempt of court and he should be booked under the relevant laws. The worst part of the whole situation is the utter failure of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre to punish Mirwaiz and Geelani. Its indifferent attitude to the disturbing developments in the valley has shocked not only the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions, but the people across the nation with even the national media questioning the very intentions of the Centre. Significantly, the people of Jammu region have realised the gravity of the situation and there are reports that they may launch an anti-BJP movement to teach it a lesson. |
