Deptt of Urdu JU likely to organize Extension lecture on Urdu Ghazal 10/3/2015 11:45:29 PM JAMMU, Oct 3: The department Of Urdu, University of Jammu is going to organize an extension lecture on the topic " Urdu Ghazal in present century "on 6th of October, 2015 in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall of the department of Urdu. The thought provoking lecture would be delivered by the reputed poet of the sub continent and Head of the Department of Urdu, Jamia Milia Islamia New Delhi Prof. Shahpar Rasool. This was informed to the press by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik H.O.D Urdu, University of Jammu. He said that Ghazal is a important genre of Urdu language and literature which is popular not only in India but across the world. The purpose of organizing the extension lecture is that to inform the budding ghazal writers about the form Ghazal is being written in the present century and what would be the role of Urdu Ghazal for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the 21st century. Besides what are the themes being used by ghazal writers in present century. The programme will be presided over by Prof. Qudoos Javed former Head of the department of Urdu, Kashmir University. It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Shahpar Rasool is a towering Urdu Poet of the sub continent. He has written several ghazal collections and is considered a authority on Urdu ghazal. He has participated in a number of Urdu Mushairas within and outside the country.
