What about AIIMS and smart cities for J&K? No word from BJP led NDA Govt | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: What happened to AIIMs type plan for Jammu and Kashmir? One is supposed to know the fate of the plan when the central Government had asked the state Government to identify 200 acres of land in Kashmir and in Jammu for setting up two AIIMs type health institutions. What happened to the central Government's plan on setting up smart cities? Well people in Jammu and Kashmir are no longer interested in the project after the state of Jammu and Kashmir was delinked from the project of building smart cities. Is it the result of known bias of the BJP-led NDA government against the people of Jammu and Kashmir when under the plan 100 smart cities were to be built? Panthers Party Chief Harsh Dev Singh was right when he berated the central government for having selected a small state like Lakshadweep for including into its plan on building a smart city against Jammu and Kashmir which is inhabited by over 1.25 crore people. Latest reports said that the number of smart cities to be built has been reduced from 100 to 98.Does not Jammu and Kashmir state deserve one city even ? What about the central Government's commitment on providing adequate relief and compensation to all those hit by floods in September 2014 ? No news about this commitment when people in Kashmir have already observed the first anniversary of the deluge? What about the BJP's commitment on releasing funds in favour of Jammu and Kashmir state for increasing power generation ? No knowledge about it.What about central Government's promise on sanctioning funds for rebuilding the Government and private infrastructure damaged by floods ?No word about it. These matters can wait because the state Government and the BJP led NDA Government have to deal with various vital issues. The state Government has to contest court cases, one in favour of banning slaughter of bovine cattle and on consumption of beef, and the other related to the amendment in the law which would scrap ban on slaughter of bovine animal and on consumption of beef. The state government is so much confused over the issue that it has knocked the door of the Supreme Court for guidance and intervention following two conflicting and contradictory verdicts given by the Srinagar bench of the High Court and that of the Jammu bench of the High Court. Here again the Panthers Party Chief,Harsh Dev Singh, has ridiculed the state government for having raised issues, which never existed, before the Supreme Court. He has said that the Srinagar bench of the High Court has simply issued a notice to the state Government to explain its stand on a PIL that challenges the ban on consumption of beef. He has said that the High court has not taken yet any contradictory stand on the two PILs filed, one for banning consumption of beef, and another for revoking slaughter of bovine animal. The issue pertaining to beef consumption is not only a vital issue but ticklish too on which rests the future and fate of the coalition government. Hence the government is supposed to resolve this issue and those connected with AIIMs and smart cities can wait. Let people wait for securing settlement of their pending demands, which includes resolving the problem of unemployment because the coalition government has yet to evolve a system under which it can work for the betterment of people of the state. The government cannot wait because if it waits for another month or so its future and fate may hang by slender thread. People can wait.People have time to wait for results. |
