Congress wants discussion on flood victims, pilgrim tax | Moves adjournment motion | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 3: The Congress moved an adjournment motion in the legislative assembly (LA) to seek a debate in both the houses on the relief and rehabilitation of 2014 flood victims and service tax on commercial helicopter services tax on Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine pilgrims. Talking to Early Times over phone senior Congress leader Gh. Nabi Monga said, "Our party wants both the Assembly and legislative council to discuss the relief and rehabilitation of 2014 flood victims and on helicopter Service Tax on Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine pilgrims by way of Adjournment Motion. The party has submitted a notice of adjournment motion in the Assembly Saturday," He said that the motion in this regard has already been given to the assembly speaker for discussion on this issue Monday. He said that the party will also corner the Government over wide-range of issues. "We will target the Government on its failure to ensure rehabilitation of flood victims of Valley and the much-hyped Rs 44000 crore flood rehabilitation packages. We will also take up the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in Valley as a result of which several innocent lives were lost in north Kashmir including that of a 3 year old kid. The Government has failed to contain the situation and ensure peace," he said. He said that we have discussed the matter even with other members of the house and they have assured us of supporting the stand in the house. |
