Beef ban: Act against divisive forces, Mufti tells police | NC, Hurriyat trying to trigger unrest in Valley | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has directed the police to take strong action against the divisive forces who are trying to destabilise the government on the issue of beef and taking recourse to religious sentiments. According to sources, Mufti issued these directions after intelligence reports suggested that separatists and goons of the opposition mainstream parties are planning large scale protests over the High Court order asking police to enforce ban on slaughtering of bovine as per the law. The intelligence agencies in their report have informed the CM that separatists after having being exposed on the ground situation in the PoK with protests there and opposition, especially the National Conference, put to the back by the governance of the PDP-BJP, is using this as ploy to instigate unrest in the Kashmir valley and bring situation to a point that there is communal reaction in Jammu. "The statement of Geelani that Mufti is not the last word on Kashmir, reflects his utter desperation and frustration, and it's for this reason he is now turning his focus on exploiting the situation after been ban order of the HC. Geelani, using his religious rhetoric, is pushing his cadre all over Kashmir and instigate the situation in the sensitive areas of Jammu," said the official. Sources said Geelani is being supported on this issue by the NC, which has a history of creating disturbance in the state when it is out of power. "Mufti being a seasoned politician has read through the game and has for this reason directed the police to take action against such elements," said sources. "The CM has been assured of all help and cooperation by the top BJP leadership and also of the RSS. That is why both parties agreed to move to the court. The Sangh leadership has also communicated to Mufti that it will not allow the situation to turn communal in Jammu if the government is seen acting in an impartial manner," said sources. |
