Langate MLA walks out of Assembly over beef ban row | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 3: The ban row resonated in the legislative assembly today as Langate MLA, Er Abdul Rashid walked out of the House after the issue was not taken up for discussion. As soon as the autumn session of the assembly began this morning with Speaker Kavinder Gupta reading the obituary reference, Rashid stood up and raised voice against the ban imposed on sale of beef in Jammu & Kashmir. “Jammu & Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and as such the ban on sale of beef should be revoked at the earliest,” he said while carrying a banner in support of his demand. After the Speaker did not listen to him, he moved towards the House well but the watch and ward staff did not allow him. Some Bharatiya Janta Party MLAs could be assailing him. Nowshera MLA Ravinder Raina had heated arguments with Rashid. However, Raina was asked by some of his members to take his seat and let the legislators speak on the obituary references taken up by the House. The legislator also took a dig at the Speaker for rejecting his resolution regarding discussion on safeguarding of Article 35-A while staging a walk out.
