Truck union appeal for minimizing toll plaza rates | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 5: Truck Union Kathua today extended intensive support to All India Transport Union to strengthen the demand for seizure of toll plazas on national highways. Members of Truck Union Kathua today came on road and blocked national highway against union government and threatened to continue until redress of their demands. While interacting with media, Bhupinder Singh President Truck Union Kathua said Kathua unit has extended support to All India Truck union wherein union raised demand for ban on unnecessary toll plaza after every 30-40 km of distance, road tax and over insurance policies. He said transport is back bone of Indian economy and cover 6% of Indian population internally deprived off basic amenities and unsatisfied to profession as they already pay Diesel tax, National & State permit tax, Fitness tax, Insurance at high rate EMIs, driver's salaries and another annually taxes. He said it is difficult for transporters to survive but government adds their suffering by installing toll plaza after every 40 km to collect revenue. He demanded ban on Toll plaza which should be according to him from Initial and end points of each state. Ranjit Singh, another transporter, appraised local issues and added that each load vehicle has to pay Rs 1500 as toll from Pathankote to Jammu that exceed their income. Truck Union Kathua appealed Nitin Gadkari Union Transport Minister and State Transport Minister to minimize Toll plaza and other tax and threatened to continue their strike unless redress of their demands. |
