Tak seeks high level probe into appointments | Kishtwar NRHM appointment scandal | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 5: Talking tough against the appointment of various persons under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Kishtwar District having tuck shop diplomas, Member Legislative Council (MLC) from Kishtwar Firdous Ahmed Tak today sought a high level probe into the appointments. Replying to a written query of PDP MLC in the Upper House, during Question Hour, Minister of State for Health Asiya Naqash informed the house that about 169 doctors were engaged under NRHM in 2012-13, while in 2013-14 about 219 doctors were appointed on contractual basis. The minister admitted that serious complaints were received by the DC Kishtwar as well as by the Mission Director NRHM with regard to the appointments of Dental Surgeon, Physiotherapists, Counselors, Dental Assistants and Para-medics made by the District Health Society Kishtwar, few months back. She informed that the Selection Committee comprised of DC, CMO, Dr. Sat Pal, Dr. Saima Agoo, Davinder Kumar Sharma (Teacher) and Dr Vikar Qazi. Following the complaints the DC Kishtwar ordered a probe. "The details of the probe conducted by the District SP on the instructions of DC Kishtwar have not been shared with the Mission Director, NRHM", the minister said adding that however DC Kishtwar has, as per the report submitted by ADC, found the allegations false. Amid the uproar by the opposition the PDP legislator pointed serious loopholes in the selection process and demanded high level probe so as to bring the truth before the public. Talking to the reporters outside the House, Tak said that even the candidates with invalid diplomas have found their place in the selection, which speaks about the process adopted by the authorities. He said that he would move State Vigilance Organization to ensure justice to the affected candidates. While talking to "Early Times" many candidates rued the selection process added that other candidates have also decided to move the court in next few days. "How the selection process could be trusted where the husband as well as the brother of a selected candidate was performing their duties as supervisors during screen test examination" said a drop out candidate wishing anonymity. "Just scrutinize the list of selected candidates--- it will clearly indicate that list is biased and will itself reflect our claim that the selection is made under political influence and to appease the political bosses while genuine candidates had been left aside" said non selected candidates who had also decided to move the court. It is pertinent to mention that Jammu and Kashmir High Court has also issued stay on selection of paramedics in certain blocks of the District Kishtwar as many selected candidates were having the tuck shop diplomas while the candidates having diplomas from registered paramedical institutes of J&K were denied jobs. |
