JKSWB Chairperson reviews progress of Board 10/5/2015 10:14:45 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 5: Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board (JKSWB) Dr Nirmal Gupta reviewed the progress of the Board and said that with increasing employment opportunities for women, breaking up of joint family system and growing need to supplement household income, more and more women are working and need support in terms of substitute day care for their young children while they are at work. The Board is providing Crèche and Day Care Services to women belonging to very poor families, who require support and relief for childcare as they struggle to cope up with the burden of livelihood activities, within and outside their homes. The Board has established 694 Crèche Centres in 22 Districts of the State, where almost 17,500 children in the age group of 0-6 years are provided supplementary nutrition, as well as pre-primary education through play-way method. The expenditure on the scheme is met by the Government of India, through Central Social Welfare Board. Since there is no provision under the scheme for purchase of toys, a suggestion has been made that a Toys Bank could be established, which will be utilized in Creche Centres for under privileged Children. In case any organization or person is willing to donate toys for these lesser privileged children, they can approach the State Social Welfare Board offices, located at Old Secretariat Srinagar and Pragati Bhawan Rail Head Complex, Jammu.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
