Alleged rapist denied bail | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: Third additional sessions judge, Jammu, Y P Kotwal today rejected the bail application of Amir Sheikh who was allegedly arrested by police in rape case. According to the police case, when the victim was alone in her house on June 13, 2014, the applicant came to her as he had promised that he would hand over his project reports to her for preparing her project report for PG in English subject. The complainant offered him water and enquired about the project report but he told her that he had not brought it and would bring it the next day. He then allegedly pushed her on the bed and committed rape on her. Upon this, Gangyal police registered FIR No 78/2014 against the accused and after completion of the investigation, the challan was presented. The judge, after hearing the two sides, observed that rape, apart from being a dehumanising act, is also an unlawful intrusion on the right of privacy and sanctity of a girl or woman and it is a serious blow to her supreme honour and offends her self esteem and dignity and degrades and humiliates the victim. The court said that rape was not only a crime against the person of woman but crime against the entire society. With these observations, the court rejected his bail application. |
