Scientific mining over Raavi shortly | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct.05: Union government is likely to launch mining through scientific way to maintain water table without harming environment and to mitigate dust , air pollution etc. Shoukat Choudhary Regional Director department of Environment and Pollution Control today disclosed scheme that is almost finalized by Union government during Public Hearing for environmental clearance for establishment of River Bed Mining project of minor mineral (ordinary sand) at village Jagat pur Kathua. The programme was organized by JK State Pollution Control Board. While interacting to media, Choudhar informed that Union government tried to control on unnecessary mining causing harm to environment from rivers. He said according to EIA act 2006 Union ministry must have to hold a public hearing of locals to get their views, objections and suggestion from introducing the project on that area. He said today JK SPCB continued the drive and accept views from inhabitants of locals living near river Ravi which will be preceded to union ministry for analyzing and implementation thereafter project will be launched on river Raavi. When asked about defunct air pollution control device in cement Industries, he said devices are installed but not in running position. He said Union government would check online industrial pollution through GPS devices that would control over air pollution. He added that JK SPCB would introduce night patrolling, pay surprise visit to check pollution in industrial pollution. He said weekly, monthly and annual reading will be taken and report to Union Environment ministry. While replying on damaged to water bodies at Khokhyal village, he said Fishery department could not prepare actual cause of damage to water bodies that was necessary to minimize the death toll there. He said JK SPCB sent samples of water to Central lab and found Endosalfan- a toxic chemical that is completely banned in J&K state and Industries can't use that chemical. He said local fishermen would use that intoxicant to catch fishes but strict action will be taken if anybody found guilty. |
