Retired paramilitary personnel's chain hunger strike enters 25th day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 5: Retired Paramilitary Personnel continued their chain hunger strike for the 25th consecutive day demanding One Rank One Pension (OROP) in favour of ex-paramilitary personnel, widows and dependents. Large number of ex-Paramilitary Personnel assembled near Hari Singh Park Press Club under the banner of All J and K Central Para Military Force Association and raised slogans in favour of their demands. The protesters alleged that Government of India is dividing the soldiers of country for its petty interest. They added that the association will never bear this and oppose this discrimination as all Paramilitary Forces whether BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and CISF are serving the country with full dedication and 24 hours strict duty as like Indian Army. The protesters stated that all ex-Servicemen personnel of Paramilitary forces played a major role in forming the present Government at Centre and it is now their duty to keep their promise of redressing the grievance and problems of ex-Paramilitary personnel, widows and dependents. They urged the Government of India to stop doing discrimination in soldiers and extend the benefits of OROP to paramilitary forces personnel also at par with defence forces as early as possible. Those who sat on hunger strike include Des Raj Gupta, Mohan Lal, Amar Nath, Nirmal Singh, Thoru Ram, Ashok Kumar, Modh Majad, Alam Din, Dalip Singh and Surjeet Singh. |
